Bed and breakfast Luxury accommodation Villa Cavour
The area is surrounded by gum, mango and palm trees which are a good retreat for a lot of small birds: you can watch and feed them from the balcony while having your breakfast or you can just relax, enjoying the breeze and their singing.
The lounge/meals area downstairs also features a traditional fireplace, which creates a very intimate and warm atmosphere in winter evening.
Breakfast is served between 6.00am and 9.00am to suit our guest needs. You can have it on the balcony, under the gazebo along the pool or in the dining room. Choose from a traditional continental breakfast or the gourmet cooked option. Whatever you choose it will always be served with a great Italian style cappuccino or a very energetic short black to help the day start and be ready for the many different activities Hervey Bay have to offer. Tea and orange juice
Rocco takes care of our vegetable garden to ensure fresh herbs and other essential ingredients available for our meals.
We can serve dinner on request, and Rocco(your personal chef) will be more than happy to share with our gourmet guests his passion and experience in cooking, and can even hold cooking classes for you.
We take care of any dietary requirements or food allergy; we cater for vegetarian, gluten and lactose intolerancies, or any other special meal requests, as long the guests outline their requirements when they book their accommodation. A good selection of Piemontesi wines are available, imported directly from our region in Italy, to combine with our traditional recipes. Rocco also likes to use local products such as prawns, scallops and crabs.
Early check in or late check out can be arranged subject to availability. Please include this on your booking. Your hosts live in the house, so they will be there when you arrive. Please advise us of your approximate arrival time.
Guest courtesy pick up and drop off from Hervey Bay Airport or Bus Terminal is available, on request.
Hervey Bay is nested in the heart of the Fraser Coast Region.
The foreshore, with calm waters and beautiful beaches, reminds us of some Mediterranean places. The 15 km footpath and bikeway from Eli Point to the Marina travels along the beachside, allowing visitors to enjoy spectacular sunsets and sunrise and provides a lot of nice picnic spots or just a park bench or two to sit and recharge.
The Esplanade offers visitors many activities. The 800m long Pier is a paradise for photographers and fishermen, with the chance to catch a very good fish or crab. Fishing charters are also available.
The water park next to the Front Oval is spectacular and very interesting for adults and kids alike.
Water sport activities are very popular: swimming, snorkelling, jet skiing, kayaking, canoeing, sailing and kite boarding. Or you can simply build a sand castle or play beach cricket.
Visitors might also like to try horse riding, trike tours, helicopter scenic flights or skydiving. You can find it all when you visit Fraser Coast.
There are many different boutiques, shops, restaurants and coffee shops open along the Esplanade and around the Urangan Boat Harbour to suit all the different visitors’ taste and preferences. The local Botanic Garden and the Orchid House is only a short walk from the Esplanade, in Elisabeth Street. The Historical Village & Museum is located in Zephyr Street, just few minutes from the Esplanade as well.
Fraser Island, one of the most popular World Heritage destinations in Queensland, is only 35 minutes away from the main land. One, two or three day tours are available from very good tour operators. Drive along the unique 75 Mile Beach; visit Central Station and immerse yourself in sub-tropical rainforest along the Wanggoolba Creek boardwalk; enjoy the spectacular colour of Lake McKenzie and swim in the clear water or in Eli Creek’s fresh water; or be more adventure and rent a 4WD and camp on a site at the Island.
From July to November Hervey Bay is one of Queensland’s whales watching capitals. Take the opportunity to experience the trip of a lifetime. Half or full day cruises are available with many very good boats to choose from. There are also viewing platforms for a personal, touching encounter with these gentle giants. Some boats have underwater windows and microphones to capture all the emotional songs and underwater action.
Scenic flights departing daily from Hervey Bay Airport. In 35 minutes tourists can visit Lady Elliot Island, the most southern island of the Great Barrier Reef, where the Coral Reef is alive and the island is teeming with life. Enjoy snorkelling, diving, swimming in the clearest water from the resort beachfront or coral and tropical fish viewing from the glass bottom boat.
Lady Musgrave Island is also not far away from Hervey Bay. Transfers to the Island are available daily from Bundaberg or 1770.
We can provide detailed information, organise and book any tours or activities for our guests form our tour desk with no charge. Free pickups and drop offs at our front door are the plus. Please don’t hesitate to ask us about packages or special deals.
Some key events need to be mentioned as well including Fraser Coast Cultural Festival in March, Bay to Bay Yacht Race in May, the Mary Poppins Festival in July, Hervey Bay Whale Festival and Seafood Festival in August, Torbanlea Picnic races in October and Christmas celebration in December with a Carols by Candlelight concert. Many fishing competitions are held in the area throughout the all year.
Maryborough is a 40 minute drive from Hervey Bay and really worth the trip. The “Old Lady” will take you back to the past with its colonial architecture, heritage characters and ghost tours to name a few. The original wharf district is an exceptional heritage precinct, and the colonial buildings have been reinvented as restaurants, coffee shops and museums. You can do the Mary Heritage Walking Tour, see the Town Crier, visit the Mary Poppins statue and grab a bargain at the weekly Heritage Market.
Bundaberg is about 110km north of Hervey Bay. It’s the place for Rum and Ginger beers lovers. Experience the brew tours and free product tasting, and then have a quick drive to Elliott Heads and Woodgate to admire the view. From November to March, Mon Repos Conservation Park (15 km east of Bundaberg) supports the largest concentration of nesting sea turtles on the east Australian mainland. Visitors can participate in nightly turtle tours in season.
Driving south you can visit the historical city of Gympie. Discover amazing gold mining and timber history. Explore the stunning scenery of the Mary Valley taking a ride on the Valley Rattler steam train. At Rainbow Beach you can 4WD along the beach and admire the brilliant coloured sands. Tin Can Bay Village is also a great spot to take the boat out and explore the Great Sandy Strait and you can experience the unique Dolphins hand feeding: they come into the Norman Point each morning and play with kids and adults.
